Since EMERALD was formed in 2010, it has served as the custodian of public good, dedicated to making a positive social impact. Our early work focused on contribution to enhanced environmental sustainability. Depletion of forests disturbs the delicate ecological balance and also contributes to climate change. With our initiatives, we aim to promote environmental consciousness among community members, school students and our employees by engaging them in plantation and cleanliness drives. The underlying vision is that environment being a common global concern, any effort at promoting environmental sustainability at a local level would benefit the environment as well as local communities and society at large. Under this initiative every year in association with the regional schools we plant numbers of trees. We try to ensure at least three years of survival of the plantation .Wherever feasible, the plantations are harnessed for livelihood opportunities for the beneficiaries, thus the community also becomes a part of it, which helps in long-term maintenance of the green cover.
EMERALD believes that Farmers are the largest stakeholders of our society and form the bottom of the pyramid. Thus it becomes very important to strengthen them. Keeping this objective in our mind we have taken steps to encourage the youth to take up agri-preneurship for self-employment. This is done by creating awareness about the various opportunities and the government facilities available in the field of agriculture. We have also started personalized agro-advisory services to the farmers through our helpline number which is available 24×7.
