India is an agriculture based economy. Agriculture and its allied activities act as main source of livelihood for more than 80% population of rural India. Agriculture provides employment to approximately 52% of Indian labor. Agriculture sector contributes around 14-15% to Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Thus we can say that the farmers are the backbone of the Indian economy.
EMERALD has hence taken an initiative through the FARMERS CLUB, to educate the farmers about the emerging farming techniques, increasing productivity and improvement of post-harvest management. The main objective of the FARMERS CLUB is to create awareness amongst the farmers and to introduce them to sustainable farming. EMERALD has also taken steps towards the introduction of hydroponics technique to the farmers which will prove to be beneficiary to them to get higher productivity.
EMERALD strives towards inculcating fair and clean farming practices into the farmers. Various campaigns and awareness drives are conducted to sensitize the farmers to use organic products in their farming practices. Our instructors train the farmers in application of organic farming by giving them demos regarding the same. We also educate them about the relevant component regarding agribusiness, financial competence, and linkages to the market. EMERALD has its helpline number which is available 24×7 to resolve the farmers’ issues.
